Resumen: El P. Miguel Barraincua Mazmela es el segundo vasco en ocupar el cargo de Provincial en la restaurada Provincia de Santiago. Desde muy joven ocupa cargos de responsabilidad en la Provincia como profesor en Herbón, Rector en Santiago, Definidor, Secretario Provincial, Provincial y Vicario General de España.           Como Provincial le toca vivir momentos difíciles pero que supo sortear con maestría. Por primera vez hace referencia en su mandato a los partidos políticos y a los nacionalismos que empezaban a surgir en España, ?vigilen el bizcaitarrismo y el catalanismo?; como religiosos se debe mantener la confianza de todos los fieles.        Nuestro protagonista tuvo una querencia en su vida religiosa: la ciudad de Lugo en la que vivió en distintas etapas y en la que falleció.

Abstract: Fr. Miguel Barraincua Mazmela is the second basque to become Provincial in the restored Province of Santiago. From a very young age he held positions of responsibility in the Province as professor in Herbón, Rector in Santiago, definitor, secretary of the Province and Vicar General of Spain. As Provincial he had to live difficult moments but he masterfully avoided. For the first time he refers in his mandate to the political parties and nationalisms that were beginning to emerge in Spain, "watch the bizcaitarrismo and the catalanismo"; as religious the trust of all the faithful must be maintained. Our protagonist had a desire in his religious life: the city of Lugo in which he lived in different stages and in which he died
